Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Credit: www.ibo.orgThe MYP is a framework that encourages students from ages 11 - 16 years to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, preparing them for success in further study and in life.
Rooted in the IB philosophy of nurturing international-mindedness, the inquiry-led Middle Years Programme (MYP) challenges students to explore ideas and issues that matter on local, national, and global scales. With an aim to develop learners with ‘student agency’ where they can take responsibility for their own learning, the learner profile attributes lie at the heart of the MYP as well and are developed through our 4 pillars - Approaches To Learning (ATLs), Approaches To Teaching, Global Contexts & Concepts.
Just as the Primary Years Programme uses transdisciplinary themes to foster big-picture thinking, in the MYP these are transformed into Global Contexts. These contexts act as lenses through which students inquire into subject knowledge while building conceptual understanding, making learning both relevant and impactful.

Fairness & Development
Learning is organized around eight subject groups, each explored through units. Every unit is framed by a Statement of Inquiry, which connects subject knowledge to the six global contexts and challenges students to think critically, debate ideas, and ask meaningful questions.
In the MYP, Interdisciplinary Units help students connect learning across subjects and develop a broader perspective. By bringing together concepts, skills, and perspectives, students explore real-world issues, and create new meaning, strengthening their ability to think critically, collaborate, and apply learning purposefully.
Personal experiences become entry points into deeper investigations, leading learners to apply their understanding to real-world situations through observation, research, and reflection. Continuous reflection across subject groups ensures that students not only grasp what they are learning, but also how their thinking is evolving.

Our students also engage with atleast one Inter Disciplinary Unit (IDU) each academic year.
Assessment in the MYP
Assessment in the MYP is criterion-based, focusing on building skills, deep understanding, and reflection.
Formative assessments
Students receive formative assessments as ongoing feedback to guide their learning and skill development.
Summative assessments
Summative assessments at the end of each unit measure their achievement against IB criteria and learning outcomes in each subject.
End-of-semester concept-driven assessments
End-of-semester concept-driven assessments provide students with the opportunity to prepare for future success, by focusing on essential concepts to ensure deep understanding and application. These assessments prepare students for challenges beyond the classroom, fostering resilience and readiness.
Showcases
Through showcases, students bring their learning to life demonstrating language proficiency and cultural depth, expressing creativity through the arts, excelling in physical and strategic pursuits, and unveiling innovation and problem-solving through bold design projects.
