Middle school
MYP Years 1-5 ( Grade VI -X)
Age: 11 years – 16 years
In Grade VI, students transition to the MYP curriculum. The IB MYP we roll out at aLphabet international school is a coherent and comprehensive curriculum framework that challenges our learners academically, at the same time developing their life skills. The program allows students to build on their personal strengths and to embrace challenges in subjects in which they might not excel. The MYP offers students opportunities to develop their potential, to explore their own learning preferences, to take appropriate risks, and to reflect on, and develop, a strong sense of personal identity.
At this stage, our learners who are now familiar with the concept of self-learning, adapt to applying the knowledge, attitudes, skills and concepts learnt to real world issues. A deeper focus is laid on enhancing their knowledge and skills along with further application of the learner profiles. Students focus more intently on the concept of International mindedness by grasping that we are all connected and any imbalance in one area can affect the larger whole. By MYP Year 5, learners come to understand that their actions do not affect them alone but in fact have a ripple effect on the larger community.
We offer the following subject groups as a part of the MYP program:
- Mathematics
- Language & Literature
- Language Acquisition by Phases (we offer a choice between Hindi or Spanish)
- Integrated Sciences
- Individuals and Societies
- Design
- Arts (Visual and Performing Arts with Music and Drama being offered as part of Performing Arts)
- Physical & Health Education.
